Circular Beauty: A New Sustainable Beauty Standard

When we finally use up the final drop of a skincare product, what do we do next? Throw the packaging away and order a new product, most likely... but is there another direction we can take?

CosmeticsDesign USA describes circular beauty as a no-waste standard, where everything, from product ingredients to packaging, is sustainable and reusable.
Formulas designed with circularity in mind protect our environment and reduce our environmental footprint by emulating nature and its zero waste system. If you'd like to read more about circular beauty, clink the link below to learn more!

How to Naturally Restore Your Skin's pH
Harsh chemicals and other lab-created formulas in skincare products can disrupt the pH levels of your skin by stripping away its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. Your skin has a slightly acidic pH, (typically around 5.5), which is crucial for maintaining its protective barrier function. Gentle, natural, plant-based ingredients help support and maintain this slightly acidic environment by recalibrating and restoring the skin's acid mantle pH balance, protecting you from harmful bacteria and damaging free radicals.

Ingredients like aloe vera, apple cider vinegar, and lemon juice are all known for their soothing and pH-balancing properties. Aloe vera helps hydrate and balance the skin's pH, while lemon juice's natural acidity unclogs hair follicles to remove the build-up of oils and environmental pollutants in your hair.
Additionally, plant oils like coconut oil can nourish the skin without causing imbalances, making them excellent choices for maintaining your skin's pH.

S H I M M E R  C H E F's philosophy is that all healthy skin has a thriving microbiome and balanced pH. Our skin is our body’s first line of defense, and we need to arm it with powerful, bioavailable nutrients. As our largest organ, it’s critical we nourish and fortify our skin barrier so it can do what nature intended it to do best: serve as protection between your body and the outside world.
