Jennifer’s trust in nature’s power began long before Shimmer Chef. As a teenager, she struggled with chronic cystic acne despite countless over-the-counter and prescription treatments. Relief came through a fresh family salve rooted in traditional healing and passed down by her grandmother, Juanita Villegas.
That early transformation shaped Jennifer’s belief that skin thrives when it is supported with fresh, whole, living ingredients. It became the quiet beginning of Shimmer Chef.

ANCESTRAL REMEDY, MODERN FORMULA
Before Shimmer Chef, there was Juanita.
Jennifer Sanford’s grandmother worked with nature’s quiet wisdom, using fresh herbs, native plants, and whole foods from her garden and farm. Among her remedies was a nourishing poultice made with heirloom cornmeal, aloe leaf, and egg yolk. Passed through the family, it helped calm Jennifer’s teenage skin and shaped her belief that beauty and skin health should remain close to nature.
Years later, Jennifer refined the family recipe through her lens as a chef and esthetician, replacing egg yolk with flaxseed and enriching the formula with Manuka honey MGO 325+. That beloved remedy became Shimmer Chef’s Honey Lime Polenta Face & Neck Plaster mask, the first creation in the collection.
